Music: I'm in paradise
Every week our Chinese teacher asks us to write an essay, long or short, but with something to gain. It's been half a semester now, and I'm going to share the essays I've accumulated over this half semester here.
Why should we respect knowledge? Because knowledge is power. Henry Ford sent a large number of maintenance workers who couldn't solve the problem, but physicist Stamenz knew where the problem was just by listening to the sound. There was a saying in "Lun Heng": "If people have knowledge, they have power." Stamenz, who has a wealth of knowledge, can quickly solve problems that maintenance workers cannot handle. People with knowledge have the ability to solve more problems. Society needs people who can solve problems, so we should respect knowledge and intellectuals.
As the saying goes, "The world is not afraid of scarcity, but of uneven distribution." In my opinion, the contrast between the difficulty of finding a kindergarten for the only child in the city and the difficulty of enrolling eligible children in rural areas is caused by uneven distribution of educational resources. The problem of uneven distribution of educational resources is not only reflected in this. In recent years, many places have issued warnings about the shortage of school places in compulsory education, while in some educationally developed areas, there is a surplus of school places. There is a great imbalance in the distribution of educational resources between urban and rural areas, as well as between eastern and western regions, which leads to the contrast mentioned at the beginning.
So what causes this uneven distribution? In my opinion, it is mainly due to the economic development level between urban and rural areas and between eastern and western regions. Education is a social public service industry. Although it is different from profit-oriented commercial service industries, it is still influenced by local infrastructure, population, and financial conditions, and tends to tilt towards economically developed areas. Therefore, the uneven distribution of educational resources is partly due to the uneven development of the economy and society.
Everything in the world has a process of development from immaturity to maturity, and our education system is no exception. The government should increase investment in education in underdeveloped areas and rural areas, ensure the quality of education and the supervision of fund utilization, always adhere to the people's standpoint, and use every penny invested in education for teaching and educating people.
"Life is in motion." Yes, everyone shouts that they want to exercise, but how many people actually stick to it? I don't think the numbers are optimistic. So, what causes some of us to not stick to exercise? Is it because there are too few sports facilities around us? I don't think so. First, sports facilities are not necessary for participating in sports activities. For example, running and walking do not require special sports facilities. Second, the sports facilities around us are actually increasing. The opening of newly built venues for the Asian Games and the National Games has provided local people with many good places for sports. What we can observe is that there are more and more parks and sports equipment around us, but there are also some parks that are deserted and some sports equipment that is not being used. Therefore, the reason for not being able to stick to sports is not, at least not mainly, due to a lack of sports facilities. On the contrary, in my opinion, the inability to stick to sports is "not because of inability, but because of unwillingness." From the external environment, in recent years, China's economy has faced increasing downward pressure, and "involution" has become a popular term on the Internet. People's work and life pressures are much greater than before, and sometimes they may not have time for sports. From internal factors, some people have not developed the habit of exercising, and they lack the motivation to engage in sports activities.
In this regard, I believe that the government should continue to promote the construction of "Healthy China" and "Sports China" projects. As individuals, we should develop the habit of exercising and do our part to encourage others to engage in physical exercise.
Everyone can be a poet as long as they have eyes to observe and contemplate life. Wang Jibing, a delivery driver, writes poetry in his spare time and has even published a collection of his poems. Writing poetry is a spiritual act, and whether one can write poetry has little to do with their profession. Similar to the previous allowance of elderly scavengers to enter libraries to read, each of us has the right to create poetry. Creating poetry is a poeticization of life, allowing us to view life with a poetic attitude. A poet, no matter what kind of life they face, can always see the beauty in it. Nowadays, the abundance of material life corresponds to spiritual fatigue. However, creating poetry and living with a poetic attitude can help solve this problem. Therefore, we not only can write poetry, but we should also write poetry.
Why hasn't our country produced scientists who have won the Nobel Prize in Physics or Chemistry? In comparison, Japan has many Nobel laureates in science. If we measure the level of scientific research and development of a country by the number of Nobel Prizes it has won, we will find that our country has a big gap in scientific research, especially in basic science, compared to other countries.
The reasons for this gap, in addition to the historical backwardness, also include institutional and environmental factors. The environment is very important for a person's growth, and the cultivation of scientists depends on the scientific research environment. Einstein once said that to evaluate a person, we should not look at what they have gained, but at what they have contributed. Currently, individualism is gradually polluting our country's scientific research environment. When scientists talk about each other, the first thing they mention is who has obtained national scientific research funding or who has been awarded the title of Outstanding Young Scientist of Truth. They do not mention who discovered the Hall effect or who proposed the standard model. We say that the environment has limited influence on individuals because of the role of personal determination. However, in an environment that values obtaining honors as the guiding value and is indifferent to scientific research achievements, people who are dedicated to scientific research will become discouraged and not be valued. It is obvious that our country's level of scientific research is lagging behind.
"Follow your heart." This is what countless people dream of, but it seems to be an unreachable realm. For most people, it seems easy to love something, but it is difficult to do what they love. Anjiu loves looking up at the stars, so he went from an amateur astronomer to an astrophotographer. A visually impaired child got hope from a radio in the dark and wanted to become a radio host. In the movie "Soul," every one of us needs a spark when we are born, and this spark is what we are passionate about. "Life is not just about the present, but also about poetry and the distant fields." Pursue the stars if you like them, create poetry if you like it, and explore if you like adventure. There is a slogan, "Love what you do, do what you love." Maybe due to environmental constraints, we may not be able to turn our passion into a profession, but as long as we have a heart that yearns for and loves something, we will always be free and happy.
